St. Raphael School was founded in 1936 and has been accredited since 1994 by the Michigan Non-Public Schools Accrediting Association. Students and staff live out our school mission statement in our daily activities: Growing in friendship, knowledge and God’s spirit. The school year begins around the third week of August and ends around the first week of June. The longest school breaks during the year occur around the Christmas and Easter holidays. Other holiday breaks include Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Memorial Day. St. Raphael students wear uniforms and follow a dress code, which is explained fully in the Parent/Student Handbook. The school day begins with Morning Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. This is important not only because it sets the tone for the day, but also it allows students an opportunity to lead the Prayer and Pledge. During lunchtime, parent volunteers assist in the classrooms and outdoors to make sure the children and teachers get a well-deserved break. Each school day ends with Afternoon Prayer and announcements. Below is our daily timetable:
* A certified latchkey program supervised by teachers is available for a fee and requires registration. ** Lunch includes 20 minutes to eat and 20 minutes for recess (outside if weather is permitting). A daily milk and lunch program is available to order on a monthly basis. ***When students have a half day of school, dismissal is at 11:30 a.m. copyright 2010 Saint Raphael Catholic School |
